Steven Davis (Turn N Burn): The Simple Tool Changing Trailer Landing Gear Forever
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If cranking trailer landing gear by hand feels like “just part of the job,” this episode might change how you see it.
We’re talking with Stephen Davis, a 26-year CDL veteran and the creator of Turn N Burn — a landing gear drill adapter built to make drop-and-hook faster, safer, and a whole lot easier on your body.
Stephen breaks down the real-world problems drivers deal with every day: worn-out landing gear, bent handles, awkward trailer angles, bad weather, and the constant repetition that adds up when you’re moving five, six, or more trailers in a shift.
We get into how the adapter actually works in plain terms, why torque and durability became non-negotiable during development, and what it took to go from a rough idea to something drivers are trusting in the field.
Then we zoom out beyond the product. Stephen shares a real blueprint for trucking innovation — from building a proof of concept, finding the right patent attorney, protecting your idea, and pushing through the moments where money, logistics, and doubt all hit at once.
We also talk truck shows like MATS, live demos, criticism from skeptics, battery realities, and why he believes true scale comes through fleet and terminal adoption. Plus, he hints at a future university study to document repetitive strain and safety improvements.
Key Takeaways 👇
✅ Hand-cranking landing gear isn’t just inconvenient — it’s a long-term strain on your body
✅ Repetition adds up fast when you’re moving multiple trailers per shift
✅ Torque and durability are critical when replacing manual cranking with power
✅ Innovation in trucking starts with solving real, everyday driver problems
✅ Protecting your idea (patents, proof of concept) is just as important as building it
✅ Fleet adoption is the key to scaling practical tools like this
✅ Tools like Turn And Burn can improve safety, efficiency, and driver longevity
If you care about trucking safety, injury prevention, fleet efficiency, and tools that actually respect drivers’ time and bodies — this is one you don’t want to miss.

Meet Turn And Burn
The Landing Gear Pain Point
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to That's Delivery Podcast. It's your boy Truck and Ray. And today we have a show where we talk about people, products, and innovations that are actually pushing the industry forward. And today's episode, right here, is one that of those that how did nobody think of it anytime sooner? You know, it's one of those type of conversations where I met uh this young man uh at Matt's just a few weeks ago. And uh the moment he explained what he created, I knew we had to have him on the show because this is one of those simple practical ideas that solve the real problem drivers deal with each and every day. So joining me today is Stephen Davis, the creator of Turn and Burn. Steven, welcome to the show. Steven, how are you doing? Glad to have you on the show today. A real honor. Hey, nice to meet you. I came here a little early, but it's nice to be here. Thanks for having me. Yeah, yeah, it's awesome, man. I mean, you you guys are doing great things uh with uh Turn and Burn. Uh maybe if people haven't heard of it, so we got you on the show here. You could talk about it, and maybe we could share that message with a lot of the listeners out there so they could check it out for themselves. Uh, Steven, tell us a little bit about yourself and your background in the industry. Um, maybe there's something that uh people uh can associate with the product and also with yourself there. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've been driving for over two decades, I believe. So this year be my 26th, 27th year holding a CDL license, driving, yeah. Um I've done food, I flatbeds, tankers, uh boxes, containers, uh drive in, um, truck and traders with tankers. I've I've pulled up quite a few uh trailers. And besides the truck and trailer, uh, all of them have the similar pain point, if you will, when it comes to the landing gear, that you repetitively crank and rotate the crank handle. Um, some of us hundreds of times a day, some of us thousands of times a day, depending on how many trailers you pull. And so um we came up with the idea um to make an adapter for the shaft of the landing gear where you remove the crank handle, put this adapter on, and now any 18-volt drill we're raising on the landing gear, safer, faster, more efficient. It just seemed like it was time when we came up with this, seeing how the crank handle system, I'm sorry, the landing gear system itself hasn't been really changed since it was implemented maybe 100 or so years ago. And it went in 2026, we have AI, we have you know computers talking to us for Christ's sake, and we're still manually turning the landing gear every day.
SPEAKER_00It's just it's one of those things. So when when you when you were out there, you said was it what was the moment where you said some stop and said, man, there's there's gotta be a better way to do this?
The Day He Finally Snapped
SPEAKER_01You know what? It was I believe 2014, and originally I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. And so um working the rail yards there, since you don't have ports in Atlanta, everything's in Savannah, but our rail yards uh bring in all the boxes for all our materials there. So um I'm working in the rail yards in Australia for those who know, um, and then Fairvan and downtown. And I'm having one of those days. Uh Ray that day, I moved 14 different 14 different trailers, 14 different ones. And by the ninth time I was dropping and hooking another chassis, I was cussing. I was like, man, there had to be a better way to do this. And so I went home, got on the internet, checked around, there wasn't anything. Well, well, there wasn't anything that like I could afford, or let alone my company was going to pay for it. It was thousands of dollars. And so I kind of just put it on the back burner, put it in, put it in the file in my mind. Uh, a few years later, I moved to California and I met a guy out here. We kind of got serious about it, threw some ideas around, and we came up with the adapter, like I said. Um COVID hits 2021. I got serious about it, definitely. And the rest is what you see, like I said, uh right now this year. The ninth rendition, by the way. Yeah, the ninth rendition. We've busted them, broken them, warped them. We've we've put them through all the abuse you can. So what you see now is a sturdy product that will not fail you. That was pretty much the origin. I got tired of it and found out all the benefits that came along with it. Like we're talking fast dropping hooks. Um, the the strain, repetitive strain on drivers now being all but eliminated because you no longer have to crank. Um, and then just quality work. Quality work, period. For those who legit drop and hook every day, this tool is for you. It's for every trucker, don't get me wrong, but for my guys out there that's touching five, six trailers a day, this is for you.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Wow, that's awesome. I mean, think about the the problems out there. I mean, maybe somebody just don't really understand what it's like. Um, when drivers are dealing with these trailers, sometimes they don't all go up at the same uh smoothness. You know, it's a little different. Um out there in the rain and you're fighting it. Sometimes they're too low. I mean, it could be a lot of things. Um uh what are drivers really dealing with on a day-to-day basis when it comes to cranking the landing gear? What would you say it's like for strain, fatigue, things like that?
SPEAKER_01I'll I'll piggyback off you on some of the things that you mentioned. Of course, like having to jack up a trailer that's too low or let it down because it's too high, uh dealing with the elements, whether they be rain, sleep, you know, heat, um, wind, even for some places out here in California. Um, and and even just situational, you know, situations where, like, for instance, when I was doing you know, boxes, you know, for those who know, you can put a trailer, you know, and they're like this, and you have to pull out, and you trying to get in there and do the limbo almost to let that trailer down or to let it up just to you know decouple, it's a thing. But when you have something like R2 attached to a drill, it's not just get in there and push a button, push a button and just get it done. Um it it's those situations with, and of course, like I said, for for our older drivers, you know, they may not be willing to more so just keep cranking and keep cranking. And no offense, honestly, to some of our female drivers who want who want a more streamlined approach to what we do. This is for those for those two in and just overall comfort for those who do what we do and just want to get out to their truck, they're like, okay, let's go. Or at the end of the day, okay, let's go, and not have to deal with manually lowering or raising the crank, uh landing gear.
Prototyping Until It Wouldn’t Break
SPEAKER_00It's just it's just a no-brainer we feel like. Nice, nice work. I mean, I think it is uh a great tool, great asset for the industry to help lower the chances of injuries. I mean, I've heard of people where the handle rotates back and they weren't standing in the correct position, hits them in the jaw and breaks their jaw, gotta go get dental work and the face reconstructed. I mean, it could be real bad. So um on the turn and burn, all right, we kind of get the idea. Um, let's see how it works. And we understand that you know it's gonna help out with the with the industry. But when it came to actually making the product, what was it like? What was it like coming up with the idea? I mean, I'm sure it wasn't just uh click your fingers and there it is. I mean, you had to do some work to get that product, right? Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_01It was you know what's crazy about that too when you have an idea in your mind and it hasn't been done. Don't get me wrong, we had a we had a blueprint, if you will. We we kept thinking of a socket, a socket, a socket, it has to look something like a socket. So we had a foundation, but to actually bring it to fruition was a challenge. And as we went along this, um what we did was we took like a for our prototype, our proof of concept. It was a hollow tube of a very thin metal, and then we welded a washer to the back of that, and then we cut a bolt, and then we welded all that together. And it's the most ugliest looking, beautiful thing you've ever seen, right? And we tried it on the trailer, and sure enough, it worked. And that's when the light bulb realized, whoa, this is something. Now we just need to refine this. And so that's when I started going to like the local machine shops around my area here in Southern California. Um learned a lot with that one because what I finally did, I should have done in the beginning. This this tool is engineered to the T, mind you, when I say that, what I finally did, because I was just trying to go out and tell people what I wanted. And I wasn't using the right materials, I wasn't using the right, the right hex. I wasn't, I wasn't, I didn't know what to ask for. So it was a lot of uh trial and area, trial and error, rather. When I say I've busted them, I've broken them, I've warped them, I've I've smoked drills until finally I said, you know what, let me go find someone who really knows how to do this. I found a good guy out of Indiana. Shout out to uh Allegheny Engineering, uh Mr. Ray Proud. He uh listened to my flight, he talked about it, he he uh he designed it for me, and now what you see is what we have right here. That was kind of that is what happened. That is what happened. Our final rendition right here.
SPEAKER_00This is it. Nice. Yeah, yeah, that's amazing. When you were designing that, what was the focus? Speed, safety, easy to use. What was the constant thing that you constantly kept coming back to?
SPEAKER_01It was it was all the things that happened during the prototype phase where it was breaking. Um, it it wouldn't hold up. Um, it couldn't take the torque from the drill. Uh I my thought was I don't want this to fail on the driver while they're out. I don't want this tool to be a uh a hindrance to what we do every day. It should be easy, it should be fast, it should be simple, it should be sturdy, it should be durable, it should be everything I feel like what embodies truck drivers at its core also. Just to kind of be cheesy with it. We're strong, we're durable, we're we're out there every day putting in long hours. This should match the tenacity of what we do. And so that was my that was my main focus on it. Something that the guys that really, you know, okay, I got this. Yeah, let's go. We we we're working. That was the main thought. And that's what I told Ray Anderson. I told my engineer guy, this same thing, this is what I need, and he he he brought it to life. He brought it to life.
SPEAKER_00Yes, what's up? I love it. Uh, teamwork makes dreams work. Yeah, so I mean, you got the real world impact. What kind of feedback have you been getting from drivers out there so far? Have it been having any moments where someone used it and they thought, hey man, yeah, that's exactly what it's built to. I like this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, some of the guys that uh some of the people rather, and and small companies that have dared to buy what we have, you know, we've gotten awesome feedback from Nil about how, you know, it's it's making the job easier, it's saving time, it's it's saving guys muscles and and you know, fatigue and all those type of things. Um even when we when we first went to our first show, when we first showed this in California, I'd say 2023, California trucking show, it is it is to see the driver's reactions when they see it. The the the demonstration we gave you, they they got emotional at times, like, oh my God, like where has this been? Oh my god, it's like it's it's amazing to see the reactions for the guys that know what it is, who do this thing, and they're just thankful that somebody finally paid attention to the truckers. That is a thing too when it comes to our space. Like, you know, we see technology growing around us constantly. Um, I mentioned AI earlier and some of the other things you got driving cars and metric vehicles now. But like for our space, nothing really changes. Nothing really changes. And if it does, it comes from the outside. So I feel proud even that I can be a truck driver, bring something that can help us and help change the industry for the better for all of us, you know.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, yeah, absolutely. I mean, um, it only takes um someone to really push forward and push through all of those pain points and to provide a solution where other people don't have to have that pain point anymore. So now you you did all that effort, put that in to help everyone else. So yeah, great job, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, why not a tricker? Why not us, if anybody, somebody that knows who's done it, who's done it over two decades. Why not one of us? You know, that's right.
Patents And Turning Ideas Real
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we can do more. I mean, think about the idea. That's uh what I like to say is idea is the most infectious thing that um humans have. It could be for a good thing and a bad thing. Once you get that idea in your head, it's really hard to get it out. That's right. That's right. Yeah, so you did it for good. Uh, let's talk about the journey because a lot of people out there have ideas, you know, they're riding around in their truck or they got all these great ideas, but uh turning the idea into something real, physical product as uh that's a whole different level. Uh, what did that process look like for you? I mean, there was times I'm sure there were challenges that came along the way.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I will say this. I will give you guys what I think the blueprint is. First is the idea, like Young Ray said, you have an idea. Next is follow-through. You have to stay on it because what I was afraid of, um, that I have this thought, rather. Well, there was this this, I don't know what to call it, but I have this theme where you think of something and you speak on it, and now it's out there. And if you don't do it, somebody else will. That idea will float and it's gonna be getting inspected in somebody else who's gonna have the drive and have the tenacity and have the ambition to do it, and you're gonna look up one day like, I thought of that. I thought of that. I didn't want that for me, right? And so, with that follow-through, afterwards, what you have to do is some of the things I said earlier. You go, you do a proof of concept, you you do a very rudimentary uh rendition of what you're doing to see will it even work? Are you gonna waste your time, you know? And if it works, now you put you put you progress forward. I would suggest now you go find a patent attorney so they can go see if this is in fact in the market. And what they will do is take your idea, listen to you, um, not take your idea, listen to your idea, uh, and go look for it in the marketplace. And if it doesn't exist, they'll tell you, oh, you have something. And you go from there.
SPEAKER_00You got a cool, cool step process going through there. But you hit on that one thing there. You said they'll take your idea, be like, wait a minute, no. That is what a lot of people fear is that they go talk to somebody and they're gonna take my idea. How'd you feel about that? I mean, you're being vulnerable there. You're saying, Man, I got this great idea. I don't want to go to somebody that probably want to take it from me and tell me it's nothing, and then they do something with it. What would you say? Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. That and find a good attorney. I don't know of any patent attorney that will do that, but you're there is the attorney plan privilege, and you sign NDAs and all this stuff before you get going. So they they can't. But with that, you do you you you find good guys, ask around, get on the internet, find someone who can take that, I'm sorry, listen to that idea and go search for you to see if it's in fact out there. And if it's not, like I said, you move forward, you have to pay fees. Um, they get a a drawing and rendition made up, there are claims that are made that are that are stating what your idea can't do. And then once once all that stuff is cleaned up and everybody's cool with what it says, uh, you design either submit a design or utility patent. And once you do that, you submit it in. Um, after we've done that step, then we move forward in production and trying to see if we can make this thing and push it to market because now we're protected. Now we're not putting a product in the market that's all intense and purpose, but naked, and you know, someone can come and take it. There's actually, there's actually a competitor of ours that's out there right now. I feel like he's going through that exact thing where he's not, he's not significantly protected, and people from other countries are just they're they're having their way. But with that being said, with that being said, um once you get that, you then you go for uh your marketing, you go for your your product, you go for your packaging, you go for all the things that are gonna make it the best tool possible. It is a it is a is a lengthy process, but once you get all these things going, and it can't, it's a little trial by error, once again, you're gonna make mistakes and you're gonna bump your head, but as long as you correct those mistakes and then get in, get around the right people, get into the right spaces, um, follow your heart, uh, trust your gut even, you know, when it comes to what you're doing, I think you'll be okay. Once all those things are done, pretty much, you just put one foot in front of the other and keep going. There has been, there has been times where I won't, I'm not gonna lie to you, I didn't know how I was gonna do some of the stuff we were gonna do. There have been times I didn't know how I was gonna make payments. There might there have been times I didn't know how we was gonna get to show. Um, but I kept going. I kept figuring out. And and you will, if you do have an idea, if you have anything you want to do, I would suggest that just don't stop. There's always a way. There's always a way. If you give up, you you will feel so bad out there, like when it's when it's all said and done that that you didn't put your all in. If you're made to give up, you made the now, you just can't go anymore, at least you tried. And I know that's what I wanted to do. At least I tried. But we've been doing pretty good. Every time something comes up, something makes a way, and we continue to go forward and further, and we grow bigger and stronger every time. Right now, Turner Byrne is, like I said, we're the leader in this space. Um, our social media is continuing to grow. Our um our marketing continue to go, the word is getting out about who we are, people around the country and the world are starting to figure out what we have and what we're doing. We we get uh notifications constantly, people from France, Sweden, China, uh, Australia, you name it, for people going to our site and seeing what the turn and barren adapter can do and offer. So that's just a little bit of our journey. It gets more detailed, but I guess, you know, those are the basics of what we did to get where we are today.
SPEAKER_00That's awesome. I'm extremely proud to have met you and uh learned about the product. And I'm rooting for you, man. I think that's amazing. Uh, talk about the invention, I mean, that struggle that you go through. Some people have an idea, but the effort has to go into, like you're saying, pushing yourself, not giving up. Um, not everybody's got that. Not everybody's cut out for that. Not everybody's made to own a business. And uh, even to the point of uh being a CEO and trying to run that. I mean, you think about NVIDIA, well, that guy he runs all day. I mean, it's nuts. So some people say I want the money, I want the this prestige and the ownership, but there's a lot of work that goes with that. I mean, they're going to sleep dreaming about this stuff.
Truck Shows And Live Demos
SPEAKER_01I mean, I have a similar, I have a similar uh feel about it. Like the feeling is mutual. There, they're my my wife peeks at me, I go to bed, and I wake up just I I wear all the hats. I wear most of the hats in the company, brother. So it is a thing. It is a legit thing. I sleep, I breathe, I eat, turn and burn. Until it needs to, you know, making this tool to be the safer, faster, more efficient tool for all the drivers out there so everyone can benefit from it. I'm not I'm not giving this up. I'm not giving this up.
SPEAKER_00No. That's awesome. Yeah. So yeah, that's uh that's perfect. And you take it to these truck shows. I mean, think about the maths experience. We're gonna talk about that. Um, that's where I met you in 2026. Um, that I'm sure you've been going to more shows like that and putting the message out there. What was the experience like for you getting signed up and all the work that goes into that?
SPEAKER_01Oh, Matt's is maths is always amazing. Yeah, we we have a good time in in Louisville, not Louisville, Louisville. They will correct you when you're there. Um it it's it's it's It's a logistical headache coming from California to Kentucky, I will say, you're not gonna lie, but it's fun. It's fun. We have to, you know, we get our team up there, we get our materials up there, we we get our uh display unit where we have so that display unit you see, we had the idea to take two landing gear, put them together, put wheels on them, and on one side we have the adapter, and the other side we have the manual crank. For the layman who choose to come come to these shows and see, no, this is what this feels like. Um, we had the idea, honestly, uh well, actually, the first show we did, people wanted to race us for for, I don't know why. They just wanted to race us. And so whenever we did these races, we would just have this big crowd around us, people trying to see, could the people beat the turn of burn? So it's something that we incorporated um in the show that we did from now on, just to give people that real world effect. Hey, you think you can beat the two, come try. And once you get tired of now use the turn and burn and see the difference. And it's like night and day, like, whoa, this is different. This is different. Um, that's just one experience from the Mets. Being there, meeting all the other vendors, the other uh, the other retailers who are there, everybody's there who help make the trucking industry move forward. The deals that get done, the the handshakes that are made, the the friendships that are that are you know that are cultivated. It's a it's a it's a it's a humbling experience to be around that many truckers and to see that much trucking in one space. I think it's the biggest trucking show in North America. And so whenever we go, we have a great time. We always uh we always you know meet and greet the guys. We show people what we have, we we we we astonish some people. Um yeah, the the mats is the mass is always wonderful. It's always great. Along with any trucking show that we really go to, the mask holds a special place. It was a place where we first really got our tops in and and and kind of experienced like, okay, this is the big leagues. This is the big leagues.
SPEAKER_00Mass was awesome. Nice. Like, yeah, that's a great place to cut your teeth, man. That's a great place to find opportunities. I mean, you got uh individuals like Larry Cother in there. I mean, you had uh did Mother Trucker uh come over there too?
Pushback And The Case For Change
SPEAKER_01No, we didn't see Mother Trucker uh this show. We saw him at another show, um, but we didn't see him this show. But we did see Larry. Larry was gracious enough to come by, um, use the tool, um, see the tool, give a shout-out to us, um, even collaborated with us on Instagram. We had a post to go viral, we think, honestly, because it had a lot to do with him. So I will say that. Shout out to Big Larry. Um uh we had Who Else Came by? I think I think that was it when it comes to like people with real influence. I did meet uh uh Clarissa Rankin. She was there also with Larry. I think she runs a trucking school somewhere back east. Um, shout out to all the people too, all the all the uh those good black folks that are making trucking move and bringing awareness to the space and um having people look at what we do in a better light. You know what I mean? Shout out to all those guys, mother truckers too. Um yeah, that that was that's pretty much it when it came to the show. The the four days we were there, three days we were there, awesome time. The woman treated us nice. We can't wait to go back next year, honestly, um, and do it again.
SPEAKER_00Same here. Yeah, absolutely. Um, yeah, I like walking around and talking with everybody. I had a chatter box and won't stop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's awesome, man. So when people come over, they they get it right away, they see the benefit and the value. Well, well, well, trucking ready.
SPEAKER_01No, no, not everybody. You we we have haters. But when you have haters, you're doing something right, right? Um, but I will say, with the team that I have and what we know, what we've realized, and what I know anecdotally about trucking, there's not too much people can hate on once they start talking to us. It it we just start using logic and facts. And and I come in with the trucking part of it. When they when they try to ask questions, like we had a guy ask one of our team members, like, will it work on the Kozad? So they call me over, like, will it work on the Kozad? And I just give them a look, like, come on, man. And I tell the team member, the Kozad don't have landing gear. And he's like, Oh, you got it. I was trying to get you, like, come on, man. I mean, driving too long, come on. But uh, but along with all the other guys who come up and just blatantly don't like it, they they call us lazy. You're you're taking the only exercise truckers get from them, which is wild to me, right? Um, and and just the sheer fact that like we're not being manly. That's just that's a weenie man, uh, adapter for weenies. And we just hold firm, safer, faster, more efficient. Why why turn your arm when you can just you know push a button with your finger? Honestly. And and honestly, just to just to put a button on this, right? It's not for all trucking. I will say that. No, I would say this isn't for all. It could be. You can use it for most trucking. But like I said earlier, the reason I made it this is for the dropping hooks. The UPS guys, the Costco guys, the Walmart guys, the ports, all those guys who are going to a terminal to pick up a trailer, to go to a destination, to drop a trailer, to pick up another trailer, to take back to a terminal, to do it again. This is what it's for. And for the drivers that say, Oh, this is this is lazy, this is weak. I really feel like they haven't experienced that side of trucking where you are legit moving four or five, six trailers every day. You can do it, yeah. It's doable. We've been doing it forever, but like it gets old. It gets old. And then you got bad trailer, you got bad landing gear, you got the landing gear, uh crank handle that's bent in the boldest bent, and you can't even push it in to engage it. Like, it just it does this every time. It's like, why are we we're in 2026, people is the thing. I wouldn't care, honestly, what you use to raise the lower landing gear. But I just feel like this stone age Model T4 stuff we're doing. No, no, no, get you, go get you one, go get you one. Come on and talk to us, tear your company, because this should be a it should be a system-wide changeover. We feel like that's the only way that speaking of that, if I may, Ray, if I may go on a little longer.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01For the people for the people who for the people who do say, no, I don't want to take it off, I don't want to use it because every time I drop the trailer, I got to take it off and put the train handle back on. You're right. I'm not, we're not suggesting you do that. It's counterproductive to why we made the tool. If every time, if you don't own the equipment, if you're an owner operator or your company driver and you're dropping and hooking trailers that aren't yours, it makes no sense for you to go pick up a trailer. I'm sorry, drive to a drive to a trailer, get out, take out the crank handle, put on the turnaround adapter, use the turnaround adapter, uh, get your look, connect your airlines, go to your destination, get there, truck array, use the turnaround lower landing gear, take out the turnaround adapter, put on put the crank handle back on just to go to the trailer right next to you and do the same thing again. No, no, we even know that's stupid. It's weird, it's dumb. We know that. So, what we're suggesting is for companies to get involved, see the benefits of this, the repeller strain injuries that it can have on your drivers, the time savers it can have for those who run about a load, the minutes it will save and eventually make drivers and companies, we believe, more money. This is what we're talking about, a system-wide change. And when you get to a trailer and one of these is on it, you're simply putting your drill on, connecting to it, raising it up, and getting out of there. You're turning and burning. Hence the name of the school. Turn and burn. This is what we're promoting. This is what we want. And we have our way. We're gonna keep going and we're gonna get this change made, even though some people feel like it's impossible. Well, how do I what happens when this happens? And what happens with truck array was one? What happens when when the drill dies? Okay, okay, you one, don't let the drill die. Don't let the battery die. Uh, you keep an extra battery with you that's charging all times. That way, if the drill, if the battery does die, you just pop that out. Put the one that's dead back on the charge, and you're good. Two, you keep the crank handle with you just for just for such emergency. If you have to use it for anything, or this drill won't work, your crank handle is always there to do it the old way. Now, I know some drivers don't want to put it back on, but sometimes you just might have to. Sometimes you may. And third, like it's 2026. It's 2026. So, with that said, um, we feel like what our tool is here to do and provide uh for trucking is essential. Um, it's the wave, it's the new, it's the future of what we do, and we feel like it's the best thing going.
SPEAKER_00So I like that. Yeah, I mean, why not have another option? Versus uh, I think I was with uh a driver and he was getting ready to do a trailer swap, and he actually tore his rotator cuff right um right there. Um and he had drive, he was yeah, he put put in the work and got back safe. Uh, but you know, he could have not been able to drive back. I don't, but that was his choice. But yeah, I mean he uh he was that was a painful surgery he had to go through.
Injury Prevention And A Health Study
SPEAKER_01You know what's you know what's interesting about that is that um when there aren't many um concrete examples of where you can tie an injury to raising a lower the landing gear, an injury to getting in and out of the truck, an injury to opening up the back of a trailer, you know, uh an injury to throwing a strap if you're if you're doing um flat beds, an injury to rolling up a strap if you're doing flat beds, an injury to throwing chains using binders, like all the things, kicking tires, hitting the hammer on the top, checking, checking every like for all the things that truck drivers do throughout their day. This for all you people, all you truck drivers saying, y'all just lazy truckers, there's no such thing, in my opinion. Like for all the truck drivers out there, 10, 12 hour days, four or five, six hundred miles a day. Um we keep America running. There's not a lazy truck driver out there, in my opinion. And especially for those, you got those over the road, and you got the local drivers, local drivers are humping around their cities doing their thing, no matter what they're doing. So, with that being said, with all the things we touch, with all the things we have to think about every day when it comes to trucking. If we can eliminate one of those things with this adapter, we feel as though we improve the quality of a trucker's uh situation and work. And like I said, it's so hard. It's funny you say that about what your drive, your friend experienced with a torn rotator. That could have been over time with another thing that we do throughout the day, but it failed on him during the landing year. And vice versa, with something else that happened to other drivers, like you do this probably mostly, and then you go do something else mean you. You may throw a straight, oh, and you hurt yourself. So to say that again, if we can remove one of these things, the pain points in trucking, that what we do, we think we make in essence a healthier driver overall. It's something actually we're working on. I I'll I'll I'll let the cat out of the bag on this one that we're we're teaming up with a university, excuse me, on the West Coast, trying to get a study done where we can show the benefits of an adapter, like full-fledged, bona fide, legit benefits of what Turner Crank over and over, over and over for years and years does to the body, and how an adapter like what we produce changes that and improves uh total health for the drivers. They actually had a study already uh that was done showing that there is a uh uh not a benefit, there's a uh there's a detriment to turning the crane handle repeatedly for on and on. And so um we're just waiting for honestly the the administration to kind of open the grants back up because they've closed everything down. Once that happens, we're gonna we're gonna aggressively pursue um that and hopefully we can get a uh well, not hopefully, we're really pushing to get legit language on why this is a benefit for the trucking industry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, those are the efforts that you need, like not letting the dream die. So um big up to you on that, man. You see the benefits, you gotta see the big picture too. You gotta zoom out. You can't look at the tree, you can't look at the forest. You're gonna have to start looking at the planet, you know. So you'll be able to do that. I like the yeah, I like I'm a space guy too. I like the trigger race. Yeah, man, isn't that amazing that these guys are out there going up to the moon? I mean, man, that should get more um attention. I think that's awesome.
SPEAKER_01Uh well, the same guy, those same guys that say uh turning around is lazy, they don't think we've been to space or to the moon. So, yeah, that's my shot at you guys. All you flat earthers and people don't think we've been to out of space. Like, come on, man. Come on, come on, trust the experts who've been doing it for decades. People who legit have been doing something for decades, but instead you're going to listen to somebody who started a YouTube channel a week ago. And oh, he's an expert on earth and space and the moon. Gotcha. This is how to do it.
Where To Buy And Follow
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's a lot of misinformation out there. People love to spread it. Uh, that's why I'm glad I got someone like yourself that's got the original message for the turn and burn. And uh yeah, I know there's a lot of followers that will come after this. That's just flatter, flattering of the industry of uh of your product. So keep doing the great work and uh others will follow, but uh only a few will succeed. So great job. Yeah. Um, I think it's gonna be great for the future for you guys. I see the the culture change that has to take place for it to uh to keep expanding, and I think that's gonna be great. I think you guys have a lot of good ideas there for the language and all those things that need to be done to help people see the benefits and the value. So that once they see that, then it's uh it's an easy decision to make. So great job. Yeah. Uh so I hope we can spread more uh message like this to other people. Uh, where we find your product, where's the best place to go? Where would you send people?
The Crew Behind The Brand
SPEAKER_01The best place to go is our website, turninburnnow.com, t-r-n-n, b-ur-n-n-o-w dot com. You can get on Google and put in turn and turn and burn landing gear drill adapter. We should pop up. SPEAKER_00Um, that's where we are. That's where we are. That's awesome. You got a great crew too, man. I mean, the excitement that they all bring to uh, you know, not just one guy out there with the with the drill. I mean, you got guys helping you. Man, how did that all come about? Were you guys grew up together or you just find each other over time?
Final Encouragement And Sign Off
SPEAKER_01Well, the golden child is my uh little brother. He's my uh actually my brother-in-law, my wife's little brother. Robert, shout out, shout out MVP. MVP definitely. He can he can he can sell air to air and then get changed back. Like that guy's he's he's cool. Um then you got my guy Fly. Um he he's from home, he's from Atlanta. Just a just a good guy that can talk his talk his butt off to. Then you had um the OG Albert. Uh I got Albert used to be in the trucking space. He's retired now, but he always goes and shows and just kind of shows up. Um, he learned about us from a friend of mine who's actually helping with some of our newer products that we're gonna be bringing out soon. And so he has a lot of knowledge. Albert has a pleasure of knowledge about trucking in general out of Southern California. He he can tell you who the big players are today, what they used to be in yesteryear, and how they got there. Also, he's a salesman too. So Albert's amazing. Um, then I got my guy William. He's a former Marine. He just has just that. He's a former Marine, just a know-how of a bunch of things. He's very valuable. And then, of course, our camera guy, our our videographer, Turner Barr Media, uh, our guy Doe DB DB Films. Check him out, he's an awesome guy. That crew we put together uh this year. We've had our core of Robert, William, and I. And we brought on the other three this year, and it just it it just I I yeah, I got a good group of guys to your point. I thank you, Ray. Thank you for for seeing. I got a good group of guys. We're gonna do a lot of damage out here with those group of guys. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's great, man. And you got that California weather to keep you going, keep you positive, thinking all that vitamin D out there, that's gonna help you come up with great ideas. So, man, you know, I love that weather out there, man. I'm envious over here in Minnesota, boy. I'm telling you, when you when you stop through, call us.
SPEAKER_01We go, we'll go in the winery, we'll go we kick back, man. We call us when you come. Let's go hang out.
SPEAKER_00You got it, man. Oh man. So I appreciate you coming on the show, Steven. Uh, you sharing your story, I mean, sharing your the effort that you have to put forth and get that all done. I mean, that's very remarkable. I think a lot of people will it will resonate well with them as well, for young ones too, out there. Uh, even if you're if you have a dream and you've been sitting on it for some time, maybe it's maybe you're up in eight. Don't give up. Hey, you can still keep that dream alive. So it's practical problems, you know, it can be solved. So, I mean, this is definitely one of those. And uh this is something that you can actually use every single day for truckers out there in the industry. So respect to you for building something that truly helps the people out there doing this work, the hard work that's being done is isn't easy. So there's any way you can give another option uh to people that hey, this is this is another way you can do it. So maybe, maybe, um, maybe you can't do the landing gear. Hey, now you can now you can truck. That was one thing that was holding me back.
SPEAKER_01That's right. What we want to offer what the landing gear, the turn and burn landing gear drill adapter does is streamline the coupling and decoupling of um trailer operations and offers the option where you can raise and lower the landing gear safer, faster, more efficiently. That's what we're here to do. That's what we're here to do.
SPEAKER_00There's truckers out there that uh in wheelchairs and they're they're trucking. Um they got it. We did, yes. I was like, that's beautiful. Um so yeah, yeah, keep going, keep going, don't stop. That's right. All right, so if anyone out there has seen an episode, want to share this with someone you you care about, that say, hey man, just take it a little easier, and it's the easy way to do it. Uh reach out to uh Turn and Burn. They got the uh the contact information will be in the notes. I think you can share this uh episode with those uh uh also uh like trucking episodes or anything else uh for entrepreneurs out there. So let's keep on bringing real conversations, real people making an impact in the industry. Until next time, it's your boy Truckin' Ray, and that's the liver.
